"Sonny's Blues"
"Sonny Blues" is a good short story. It starts off with questions running all through my mind. I really wanted to know who th narrator was and who was he talking about. Starting a reading journal was a good idea. It lets me write down all my questions and answer them at the end. Well anyway, the narrator is very concerned about his brother. At the beginning we really didn't know much about the story, but later on we find out that the narrator's brother is in jail for drugs. I know that is it really hurting him to see his brother like that, especially after he made that promise to his mom right before she died. The narrator has decided to make his relationship with his brother better, so after he gets out he does just that. They are now closer than ever and Sonny has finally lived out his dream of becoming a musician. James Baldwin did an excellent job when he wrote this.
